Curiosity Drives Us, Balance Guides Us

A journey to explore, grow, and discover better balance together.

I’m on a mission to discover what better work-life balance really means—not just for me, but for everyone navigating the demands of work, family, and self.

The Realization

It wasn’t one moment that made me realize my life was out of balance, but many:

  • Losing my patience with a colleague

  • Creating our annual family photo book and seeing I’d hiked only once all year

  • My daughter’s kind observation that she was proud of my work but that I needed more life and less work

  • The recent loss of a loved one and realizing how little time we have with those we love

  • Our child calling my husband for advice instead of me.. because I never answered the phone

  • Reflecting on the growing and changing needs of my family and the need for me and my time in those changes

  • The end of a holiday vacation and realizing I did not want, and could not, to go back to working the way I had been

My life had become a blur of work responsibilities, stress, and a constant sense of missing out on truly living. I had followed all the prescribed steps to success—building a family, climbing the career ladder, and working hard—but I was too tired to enjoy the life I’d built.

I felt like I was failing—at work, with the people I love, and at life. Long hours and constant stress left little room for the things that truly ground me: family, friends, and myself.

These moments inspired me to ask: Is there more to life than this?

Why This Matters

Finding balance is about more than reducing stress or managing time. It’s about creating space for what matters most:

  • Overcoming Work Stressors: I want to enjoy work again, with less pressure and more fulfillment.

  • Reclaiming Time for Family and Self: I want to show up fully for the people I love and the things I enjoy.

  • Living with Intention: I want a life where my choices reflect my values, not just my obligations.

Why I Created Seeking Better Balance

I realized I’m not alone in this struggle. Many of us are navigating the same questions:

  • How can I make time for the things that matter without letting work consume me?

  • How can I find the same passion for my job that I once had?

  • How do I know what balance looks like for me?

  • Where do I even start?

  • Again.. where do I even start?

Finding Support in Community

What I’ve learned on this journey is that balance isn’t something we achieve alone. It’s not about finding a perfect equilibrium but about aligning your time and energy with what truly matters.

This journey has taught me a few important lessons:

  • Balance Looks Different for Everyone: It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution but a personal alignment with your values, priorities, and circumstances.

  • It’s a Process, Not a Destination: Balance is a series of small, consistent efforts that evolve over time—not something you “arrive” at.

  • Support Matters: We don’t have to figure it all out on our own. There’s power in learning from others, sharing what works, and building a supportive community.

A strong community reminds us we’re not alone in our struggles and helps us discover solutions together. That’s the heart of Seeking Better Balance.

Strength in Community

I don’t have all of the answers, but I have some of the answers-I want to share what I know and learn from you.

This site is a space to explore questions and answers together. It’s a place to share what works, learn from one another, and build a supportive community.

Finding balance might not be simple, but when we approach it as a shared effort, we can make real progress. Together, we can create lives that reflect what matters most.

Join me on this journey. Let’s figure it out—together.
